Our family’s love affair with Brogo Dam began with a simple desire: to find a serene escape from the summer crowds and coastal winds. Little did we know that our many personal kayaking adventures on its picturesque waters would lead us here! We’re excited to announce that we’ll be launching guided kayaking tours on the stunning Brogo Dam this spring, inviting you to experience the magic we’ve discovered.
This location boasts dramatic scenery, spectacular bushland, and calm waters that are easy to paddle and navigate, free from tides or strong currents. An added bonus? If the coast is battling strong winds, you’ll likely find calmer conditions inland at Brogo Dam.
Located approximately half an hour northwest of Bega, Brogo Dam features an easily accessible boat ramp and is surrounded by the Wadbilliga National Park. The drive in often rewards us with sightings of red-necked wallabies, and along the way, we frequently spot wombat burrows. During our paddles, we’ve encountered cormorants, ducks, azure kingfishers, and swallows.
The landscape itself is breathtaking, with unique land formations, mountains, and a beautiful, narrow gorge that we paddle through. Our morning tea is usually enjoyed in a sun-drenched gorge, where we can explore animal tracks and admire the native flora and fauna. On warmer days, the crystal-clear water at the creek is simply irresistible for a refreshing swim.
I’m incredibly excited to begin offering kayaking tours here. Brogo Dam will also serve as a fantastic alternative when coastal estuary tours are affected by strong winds. Plus, it’s an excellent new option for families who have already experienced our tours on all three rivers!
