Pat has been an outdoor adventure guide for over 20 years and for much of this time operated the commercial adventure company Z Access Adventures, specialising in vertical adventure sports including Caving, Rock-climbing and Canyoning. He also ran Bushwalking and adventure camp activities programmes and worked as a Wilderness First Responder Instructor for several years teaching wilderness first aid to adventure guides that worked all over the world.
Since operating his business, Pat has been consulting to the Outdoor Recreation/ Education Industry as a risk management and training specialist advising on Risk Management Planning, Operations Manuals and Procedures, Staff Training and Operation Licence Applications.
In his other, complementary career he has worked in Environmental Impact Assessment as a consultant as well as for the NSW and Commonwealth Government Environment Departments in environmental assessment roles. He specialises in the environmental impact assessment and management of a range of sustainable developments including residential, industrial, extractive industry and public infrastructure and periodically applied his skills and experience aboard, particularly in South Asia, working on environmental sustainability.
His formal qualifications include B. Env. Sci. Dip. Nat. Res. Mgt. Cert IV Outdoor Recreation Cert IV Training and Education Cert III public safety (SES Rescue), Professional Association of Climbing Instructors Member, Instructor for Multipitch Rock Climbing (natural surface), Multipitch Vertical Caving, Multipitch Abseiling (natural surface), Multipitch Vertical Rescue, Flood Rescue, Wilderness First Responder.
