The Sunset and Stars Kayak Tour is the Sapphire Coast’s newest adventure—an unforgettable way to connect with nature, wildlife, and the night sky.

Launching from the Wallagoot Lake Sailing Club, glide across calm waters toward the lake’s mouth. Along the way, you’ll be immersed in a wetland haven alive with black swans, pelicans, cormorants, and even the soaring sea eagle. As the sun dips below the horizon, kangaroos often emerge from the sandy dunes to graze, creating a quintessentially Australian scene.

After soaking in the brilliant colours of sunset, gather onshore for a lakeside supper. Indulge in a platter of local Tilba cheeses, crisp crackers, and seasonal fruit, complemented by warming drinks and refreshing juice.

As night settles in, the fun continues both above and below. With special underwater lights, each kayak becomes a moving spotlight, revealing prawns darting through the shallows, jellyfish drifting like lanterns, and fish shimmering beneath your paddle. The chorus of frogs and evening birds adds to the atmosphere, while the stars scatter across the sky overhead.

• The start time for this tour varies with the sunset. We recommend having dinner beforehand, as the “supper” we provide—a platter of cheese and fruit—is not a full meal.
• Our expert kayak guides are able to assist everybody in entering and exiting the kayaks safely and with dignity
• Trained assistance animals and pets are not permitted inside the kayaks for safety reasons
• Knowledge of swimming is not a requirement, but we do encourage guests who are unable to swim to let us know in the comments section of the booking form. This will help us ensure extra safety measures are in place for those individuals.
• We use single, double, or triple kayaks for our tours. Please indicate your preference on our booking form. For children aged 10 and under, we recommend the stability and shared experience of a double kayak with an accompanying adult.
• Public drop toilets are located at the meeting location
• Please bring a full water bottle, as there are no water taps at the meeting location.
• If your group has specific requirements or needs, we kindly ask that you contact us in advance. This enables us to discuss your requirements in detail, and make necessary arrangements to ensure your kayaking experience is both enjoyable and comfortable.
• Our kayak fleet includes single and double kayaks equipped with outrigger stabilising floats for enhanced stability. If you are interested in this type of kayak experience or if we can assist with meeting NDIS goals, please contact us.

• Outside of peak summer holidays, we require a minimum of 4 guests for Bega River Kayak Tours. If booking for fewer than 4, please contact us to check availability, or book and pay for 4 guests to guarantee your departure. This ensures the tour can operate. Alternatively, you might consider booking our Pambula River Kayaking Tour, which is more popular and more likely to go ahead.
• A 10% surcharge will be applied on NSW Public Holidays to help offset the increased wage expenses incurred on these days.
• If we cancel a tour due to weather or operational requirements we will notify you as soon as possible and offer you a full refund or alternative activity.
• If you cancel; more than 7 days before the tour, we may retain 10% of the amount paid as an administration fee; more than 48 hours, but less than 7 days, we may retain 50% of the total amount paid; less than 48 hrs prior to the tour or if you do not appear for the tour, we may retain 100% of the total amount paid.
