On July 17th, we gathered at Kangarutha Farm for our very first Evening of Adventure—and what a night it was! We are so grateful to everyone who came out to support us, and we are hoping to make this a regular biannual tradition.
We were incredibly lucky to have two speakers for the night: Lawrence Geoghegan and myself, Jessica Taunton.
Lawrence truly stole the show. He had every single person in the room absolutely captivated as he took us through a lifetime of epic journeys—from kayaking through the icy waters of Antarctica and rafting the wild Franklin River, to spending time in Central Australia and exploring South West Tassie.
Missed Lawrence’s talk or want to relive it? I managed to film his entire presentation! You can watch the full 48-minute video on YouTube.
Tip: If you prefer podcasts, you can easily listen to the YouTube audio on the go—just don’t do it while driving, because you will definitely be tempted to look at Lawrence’s photos!
Halfway through the evening, we took a break for some incredible fresh pizza delivered by Drift Pizza (yum!). We all gathered around the outdoor fire pit to eat, warm up, and chat about the stories so far.
I took the stage second to share my own talk. Unfortunately, the camera decided to stop recording about 10 minutes in—so no full video for my story, bummer! But honestly, no worries at all—Lawrence was truly the headline act of the night anyway.
Thanks to your support, the event wasn’t just fun—it also made an impact! We donated $5 from every ticket, raising $250 for the Bob Brown Foundation to help protect our vital native forests.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who contributed!
Mark your calendars—we are already putting together our next event for Friday, September 11th!
Featured Speaker: David Winkworth, another one of our exceptional guides, who will be speaking about his wild sea kayaking adventures—including the unbelievable moment he rescued a crocodile off his mate!
Second Speaker: To be announced very soon!
Thank you all again for making our debut event so special. We can’t wait to see you around the fire pit in September!
