Eden: A Cruise Visitor’s Guide – What You Need to Know Before You Arrive

5 Things You Need to Know Before You Arrive in Eden via Cruise

Eden, a charming town nestled on the Sapphire Coast of New South Wales, Australia, is a popular port of call for cruise ships. While we love welcoming visitors to our slice of paradise, there are a few things we wish cruise guests knew before they disembark, to ensure a smoother and more enjoyable experience for everyone.

  1. Transport is Tricky

Don’t expect to find readily available taxis or Ubers in Eden. As a small regional town, our transport options are limited. Pre-booking a transfer or tour is essential if you want to explore beyond the immediate town centre.

  2. Tours Need to be Booked in Advance

Tour operators don’t typically wait at the port. To avoid disappointment, pre-book your tours at least a few days (months!) before your arrival. This allows operators to organise vehicles and staff effectively.

  3. Be Kind and Understanding

The majority of cruise guests are delightful, but it’s worth remembering that many of the people assisting you at the port and the visitor information centre are volunteers. They generously donate their time to welcome you to Eden. Please be patient and understanding, especially if things don’t go exactly as planned.

Our hospitality workers also do their best to cater to the influx of visitors on cruise ship days. Please be kind and appreciate that they are working hard to serve everyone.

  4. Explore on Foot or by E-Bike

While shuttle buses are available to transport you from the port into town, consider walking back or hire an e-bike to explore further. It’s a great way to soak in the atmosphere, explore the shops, and discover hidden gems like Aslings Beach or the Eden Killer Whale Museum. Hire our e-bikes to explore Lake Curalo and further afield.

  5. Come Back and Stay Longer!

A day trip to Eden only scratches the surface of what our region offers. We encourage you to return and explore further. Fly into Merimbula, a short flight from Sydney or Melbourne, or take a scenic drive. Discover our stunning beaches, hike the Light to Light walk, enjoy world-class dining, and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Sapphire Coast, NSW.
