Essential Information
Your adventure begins in the morning when we meet or transfer you to Broadwater on the Pambula Lake for our Pambula River Kayaking tour. After kayaking the beautiful torquiest waters of the Pambula River and a picnic lunch we will start our journey to Beowa National Park.
This afternoon you’ll do the shortest section of the light to light walk, Bittangabee Bay to Green Cape Lighthouse. The walk follows a route that has been travelled by light keepers over many years. Originally, supplies for the lighthouse were offloaded at Bittangabee Bay and transferred by horse-drawn tram to Green Cape Lighthouse. Rare ground parrots and striated field wrens are sometimes seen along the track and in the spring the area blooms with wild flowers.
The walk will finish at Green Cape Lighthouse, our accomodation for the next two nights. Perched on the edge of a peninsula are beautifully restored cottages and the Green Cape Lighthouse. Each cottage offers a comfortable verandah, ideal for enjoying the sea air and whale watching in the right season, large bedrooms and heated lounge rooms and shared bathroom facilities.
Tonight, relax in the lounge room with a hot drink in hand, watch the mesmerising ocean on the verandah or if you’re feeling active take a walk around the premises and look out for the resident wombats and other wildlife, the choice is yours. Your guide will prepare you a stunning chef cooked, gourmet, hearty meal for you to enjoy before you tuck in for the evening.

Wake up to the sunrise over the ocean at Green Cape Lighthouse, no matter what the weather, it’s a spectacular scene. Help yourself to a hot drink on the front verandah and soon your guide will have a hearty breakfast prepared for you. If you go for a morning stroll you might be lucky enough to spot wombats or the endangered southern brown bandicoot and for our bird lovers, over 150 species of birds have been recorded in Ben Boyd National Park. The place is brimming with wildlife and wild scenes.
Today we’ll tackle the longest section of the light to light walk, Boyd Tower to Saltwater Creek, 13km. Starting at Boyds Tower, a large sandstone tower on the Southern head of Twofold Bay. Built in 1847 and originally designed as a lighthouse that stands 18.9m tall, although it was never used as a lighthouse, instead used for whale spotting and gave Boyd a strong advantage over other whalers in the area.
From Boyd Tower we’ll walk 13km through to Saltwater Creek stopping for a gourmet picnic lunch along the way. We’ll pass by natural features such as Red sands bay, a rocky bay made up of small boulders and fine red gravel that makes a fantastic contrast on sunny days. We’ll have a rest stop in the grassy shaded area back from Leather Jacket Bay. We’ll continue onto Mowarry Beach, a favourite swimming location for those brave enough to take a dip. We’ll admire the red coastal cliffs before entering into Saltwater Creek beach, a beautiful white sandy beach with sapphire coloured water. Your transfer to Green Cape Lighthouse will be waiting for you at Saltwater Creek.
In the late afternoon we’ll be taken on a NSW National Parks guided tour of the lighthouse where we’ll have the opportunity to walk up the 116 stairs (the tallest lighthouse in NSW) to the top with a 360-degree view of Disaster Bay, the cottages and Ben Boyd National Park. Green Cape lighthouse is steeped in seafaring history and we’ll be taken on a journey to discover the heritage architecture, learn about the disasters and survival of numerous shipwrecks.
